Matthew McGovern
Matthew McGovern graduated with an LLB (Hons) from the University of Strathclyde before obtaining his Diploma in Professional Legal Practice from the same institution, where he also served as President of the Strathclyde Law Society. He is a member of the Law Society of Scotland and the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association.
He completed his traineeship with McGovern Reid and qualified in November 2018. He is already proving popular with clients as a result of his confident, caring manner and focus on getting the best result for every client.
He has a particular interest in road traffic prosecutions, domestic abuse allegations and cases involving the Children’s Panel.
In December 2019, Matthew was elected to serve on the committee of the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association, the representative body for law students and young lawyers in Scotland. Matthew also volunteers with the Law Society of Scotland as a career development mentor.
